Adoption

Adoption

Adopting a child is joyous and exciting, but it can also be complicated. In order to adopt a child successfully in the state of Arkansas, certain procedures must be followed carefully. Tripcony May understands these procedures, and we can help you move through this process as smoothly as possible.

About the Adoption Process

In most cases, adopting a child requires you to obtain consent from the child’s biological parents. There may be some exceptions to this rule, such as abandonment. Adopting parents must also participate in a home study, which will include a safety assessment of the home, personal history interview, child maltreatment registry checks, and criminal background checks.

Some cases may have fewer requirements. For example, step-parent adoptions may not require a full home study. We can help you determine what steps will be required in your adoption.
